STAFFORD, Va., Oct. 22, 2026 — Dr. Antoinette Jenkins, founder and CEO of Afterwhile, LLC, has been elected Vice President of Historic Port Royal, Inc. Her two-year term will commence in January 2027.

Established in 1995 by educator and historian Mrs. Cleopatra Kay Coleman, Historic Port Royal is the official historical society of the Town of Port Royal, Virginia. The organization manages several museums, stewards the restoration and maintenance of historical sites, and collaborates with local organizations and schools to preserve and share the history of the Town of Port Royal, Caroline County, and the greater Fredericksburg, Virginia area.

"It has been my honor to serve Historic Port Royal as a member and volunteer over the past year," said Jenkins. "The Town of Port Royal is one of my ancestral homes, so it is especially meaningful to have been nominated and elected to serve as the next Vice President of Historic Port Royal. I appreciate the members, Nominating Committee, and Board of Directors for their confidence and trust in my ability to serve in this capacity. I look forward to continuing to support the mission of this great organization fueled 100% by volunteers."

In addition to her new role as Vice President of Historic Port Royal, Jenkins will continue to manage outreach and events for the Old Port Royal School—a century-old, one-room schoolhouse originally established to educate African American students during segregation, which Historic Port Royal now operates as a living history museum.
